Does any one know of places that offer higher Apprenticeships, i don't meen ones were your coming out of school and going into one i meen something on a higher level.

Im only asking because i went to uni this year and tbh find it the most pointless thing ive ever done so im looking for other options i wouldnt mind doing and Apprenticeship as long as its a high level and will lead into a good job.

Something designed for people with very high grades that dont want to follow in uni.

Ive been looking around but most of the things ive found are desinged at people who are just leaving school or people who performed poorly in college.

Any ideas?

Yeah apprenticeships are for anyone these days from school leaver onwards, im having to apply for them myself. They are all typical shit money with a small increase for 4 years then onto the big boy pay. i.e. one of the jobs ive went for the pay structure is, £8k, £9k, £10k, £11k, £35k..............tbh I think thats fair as their paying in other areas to get you trained up.

Ive only ever seen adult trainees in the construction industry, say they might be approached by someone who has been doing something else for 10years & wants to become a plumber, they would stick him on a site for a few weeks to see if hes worth his salt with the easy stuff then decide to either put him through his gas qualifications or to fire him. Construction ind. flooded with eastern europeans though so will be harder than ever to break into.

Apart from that I havnt a clue what you could do, what type of work are you interested in???

dont know what area i would go into, quite intrested in law but im guessing that would be hard to break into without finishing my degree.

Pychology i would love to do but again thats another thing i would assume would be hard to get into without the proper degree in the scienece ect.

i just really dont want to do 3/4 years of uni its just horrid lol.

Im an apprentice plumber, not the sort of thing you would be lookin at but you have to remember you will be on shit money for the first few years, mine went up a few months ago when I passed some quite important exams and that allowed me to be promoted if you like, I`d say im well paid for a 19yr old,

Its not that I did badly in school, it made sense for me to do it, my dad and a few uncles are in the trade, can make some serious money if your good as well,

I spent all weekend at Cardiff uni with my girlfriend, the student life is class, £1 a bottle in the union

Depends what you want to do really, but as a whole they don't really exist. Most places see you doing a degree as a proving that you can be comitted to doing something, meeting deadlines, time management skills etc etc but all off your own back, unlike in collage/school where you were "mothered" to an extent.

Basically what you seem to want to do is a graduate training scheme... but you obviously need to graduate from uni to do that.

A friend went to college, then onto uni for a couple of years, then realised what he was doing (IT based) was shit and that he didnt want to be spending the rest of his life doing that, hence he quit uni and got a placement on an apprentiship. The first year was mainly done back in college, with people 16-17 (he was 21). Only this year he's in a place of work on day release, but they seemed to have taylored his course to him, hence he's progressing through it quicker than normal, but not sure if his pay's doing the same .

Best thing to do is contact people doing apprentiships in jobs you'd like to do and see what they have to offer.

I did an apprenticeship in computer programming and it was the best thing I have done. They paid me to go to college and uni on a fair wage then after I finished all the courses I left to get a well paid job. My new employer knows I have experience and the certificates.

aint read it all but even if your a boffin at uni it means fuck all when your going for an apprentership, i think you may need 3 a-c at gcse.

I did 4 years to be a sparky and now i cant be arsed with it. moved onto new pastures and that
