does anyone know what this filter is for? when i had an accedent mine was broke and i need to replace it but i duno wot its for.

im still not sure what that whole unit is for. Mine only seems to run when i first start the car then it switches off.

I assume its some form of pump to get extra stuff into the engine when its cold

its a filter for the secondary air injection thingy not sure how important it is though

got ya. it runs fine without it but its obviously better to have it than not if its meant to be there aye.

while we are discussing it what is the function exactly of this unit and the metal "hat" thingy with the pipe going to it infront of the cam cover below the oil filler cap in the pic above?

the silver thing is nothing to do with power steering its just a a valve for the secondary air pump which goes into the manifold. the filter ur talking about is where it sucks air from. the black box the filter goes on is the air pump just a fan basicaly

dont quote me on it but i think it comes on when u first start the car because they run rich when cold to warm them up. the air pump puts more air into the exhaust manifold to lean the mixture back out so it doesnt fook the cat up im probably wrong though

its a valve the vacuum pipe thats controls it goes to a plug on the wing
