Hello,
I have 5k handy to put in an ISA and about 500 a month on top of that
i have 3k in a HSBC account, makes me £11.07 a month, which is 4.5%APR tax free i think, but i can access it 24/7 instantly if i need it
i can only put 3k a year in it, so next tax year (April) I will put another 6k in it and make £22 a month off it
what does everyone else do?
a year tie-in would be maximim i would do

like you said £3k is the maximum you can spend in an isa, if you have not invested this year you can get the 3k in before april 5th then the other 2k after this. You cant just invest 6k into an isa tax free.
there is other high interest accounts that have a good return. If you may need immediate access though your looking at the 3% mark.
Personally if i was you id go to the NS&I and buy bonds. 0% interest but from my personal experiance they have a good return in £50 bonus`s
depends on if your bothered about interest really
