my brakes were playing up for the last few weeks. theres me thinking the calipers were fucked. I've just purchased some replacement calipers and guess what....... the one's ive got started working properly 
just sorted itself out 
might change them over anyhow

must be something up with them, brakes dont just fix themselfes.

well its stopped the scraping noise... never found out what it was. they work fine but i'll swap them just incase. don't wanna end up with no brakes!

Scrapping noise? Dirty pads may be? If so they might be contaminated - whip 'em off and have a look.
Dave A - hydraulic mountain bike brakes can fix themselves, if they are an open system! Aren't cars an open system?
