How much more are purpose made Jenveys for example, in cost as compared to bike throttle bodies, and what are the advantages of buying purpose made TBs?

Jenvey bodies use a DCOE bolt pattern, so manifolds are easy to find, bike bodies don't, so the manifold needs to be made.

bike bodies are a complete pain in the arse. properly designed tb's are better for every day use, simle to adjust, give better gains, easy to get bits for etc...
doubt theres much in the cost in the long run either. and a lot less hassle.

1 theres no off the shelf manifolds
2 theres no bolt on trumpets that fit
3 arent as easy to set up and balance the throttles
4 they have silly vaccum ports in most of them that need blocking up
5 position of the butterfly is far from ideal
6 so far I havnt found any tapered bike tb's
7 dont give the same gains as propery designed tb's
8 trumpets need to be attatched with jubilee clips and silicone
9 dont look as good
thats why they are a pain.

I dont suppose anyone can offer a ROUGH estimate as to much more a tb set up including everything included on bike tbs would be, GSXR TBs are around £100, so how much would the equivalent Jenveys be??

personally I would spend the extra £300 to have the extra power, practicality and reliability that proper tb's cost.

as you'll no doubt end up spending the extra £300 getting the bike Tbs to work correctly anyway

exactly rob. you could spend that easily just getting the tb's set up correctly if you get a company to do them for you.
It depends on which bike tb's you have and how good you are with the spanners really. if you have lots of time and the correct tools and knowledge to be able to design a good manifold, get them fitted and setup yourself and write yourself a decent base map and you arent looking for perfect idle and high power figures and just want some cheap fun then they would work out cheaper. if not then just stick to proper tb's.

actually you can get proper bolt on trumpets in various sizes for bike bodies, they are known as "bell mouths"..simply bolt on!Bogg bro's can have a manifold done for you in a week or so, so technically they can be almost got off the shelf..Wider choice of Bike bodies available over car ones so if something goes wrong with for instance my cbr ones i could just get a set of r1 or gixxer bodies off ebay for as little as 40 quid..Not many people have fitted bike bodies compared to car one's so who's to say if they're crap!I know that car one's are better in the long run but im saving money this way and i rather be a bit different from the crowd

bike bodies are popular because people realize they don't have to be ripped off by spending silly amounts on tb's and can get the SAME performance.
