The rules of Group B (the 80s WRC) meant that they had to build 200 road cars.

Ford built 200 cars, and converted some of them to full Group B spec.

Group B was banned because too many spectators were killed, as they were so fast, the crowds were huge

Yeah and the crowd thought it would be ok to walk infront of the cars etc. To avoid people dying why not limit the crowd, or get rid of the crowd completely as it was blatantly obvious a car was going to crash from time to time with such high powered machines

I think it was the cars plouging into the crowds who were at a 'safe distance' which did it.

The safe distance was clearly false then.

Don't get me wrong it is a tragedy for people to die But its the people who tried to calculate the "safe distance" from the cars's fault, not the cars themselves.

Road spec car was 55k when new.

They built 200 of them.

There are not 200 left.

The sky is the limit as far as costing/pricing new or used Evo models

It is pristine and one owner

It has an appropriate plate

It is late registered

It is a Grp B car

There are significantly more people in the world that want one of these than there are cars in existence. More importantly, there are also significantly more people in the world that want one, and that have the money to buy one, than there are cars to buy.

Yes, it is worth £99,995. In fact i'm rather surprised it isn't advertised for more.

This car is to the automotive world, what a perfect Faberge egg would be to the antique world.

What do you mean ''EVEN''?

He can't drive for toffee!

He managed to drive an XJR15 into a camera car on an empty air strip.

He is a POOR driver by anyone's standards.

If it is so rare, and so expensive, and so sought after, why, oh why is he selling it on eBay? Surely you'd auction if off, or go to some specialist dealer in London etc?!

That's just my opinion anyway.

The amazing thing about the 200, (and all other homologated cars for that matter) was that (if you had 50ish grand upwards to spare in 1986) you could ACTUALLY buy the cars that were competing on the international stage.

They weren't replicas or marketting ploys or lookalikes, you could purchase the ACTUAL SODDING CAR that was being raced on the thousand lakes or similar.

When you sit back and realy think about that fact, it's pretty bloody amazing.

Pretty much invalidates anything else carwise since the 427 Cobra.

It would be like a football fan being given the option to purchase his own david beckham clone to use as his own personal bitch.
