never had a Clio, had an R32 though - quite quick though it drank fuel (average about 15mpg) sold it after 6months and got more than i paid for it

I prefer the looks of the Golf and it would be the car I would choose for long distance motorway cruising. I would have to pick the Clio as a drivers car though.

I personally like the Clio's! Esp the Trophy's. Yeah the Golf is marginally faster, better built, more luxurious etc but thats not really what I like in a car. I also think the golf is underpowered and heavy as fook!

Clio for me!

yeah the 182 trophy is sexual, but he was talking about the 172 which imo just looks like any other clio. And i agree the R32 is under powered for the weight!!!

Still rather have a 172 to be honest!

Fair enough if someone was offer me one or the other for free then Id be stupid not to take the Golf.

Golf looks better than the clio end of (and im a clio fan) but for the price of a decent r32 you could get a v6 clio, in which case that looks much better
