Back in October i bought a winter run around car to save my corsa from the usual winter crap in the countryside and to slowly prep it for a xe or let conversion in the new year. When getting insurance quotes for the vectra i just asked Brentacre how much to insure my corsa for a xe, they said around the £1400 bracket. I thought that would be fine.
Recently I have been promoted at work so will be working away ( so save money in the week ) and will get a company car which means I wont need the vectra so can sell it for a bit of pocket money to spend on sed corsa which tempted me ova to a LET especially with my 21st on the way next week and rumours of cash as presents.
Rung up Brentacre today to get a official quote, thank god i was sitting down.
XE Fully Comp - £2200
LET Fully Comp - £2950
It was all mods declared, 4k annual mileage, garaged most of the time.
I have been on my Dads insurance policy ( NFU through the Farm Insurance ) for the last few years but mentioned to my insurance office at the start of last year to put me on my own but they neva did and I forgot all about it, paying my Insurnce money to me mum and dad in my keep every month thinking i was on my own but they just changed the main named drivers.
I am pi**ed off with myself for not checking, noticing and changing.
So basically what should I do. I had me heart set on 2007 having a nice looking car with a fast engine for shows and track days at Oulton park.
I could keep the Vectra in the shed until october and get 30% knocked off those prices,
Try and insure through NFU ( will try Flux tomorrow )
Insure it as a 1.4 with a XE or LET under the bonnet ( Unsure on this )
Or just scrap it all and think of something new to do.
Advice please........ no stupid comments as im not in the mood

HIC quoted me £650 ish on Sunday if I convert to an XE; thats with an agreed value of £4500 and all mods declared and covered
