I'm doing an electrical apprenticeship. I'm in my forth year, i finished my level 3 work in two year's. One year ahead of when i should have. So i deicided to progress on to a HNC. I'm now in my last year of an HNC, then going on to HND next year. Trust me, the work loads if insane. All this work around a full time job DOES get ontop of you

surely a business degree would be better if plannig on running your own business and then have experience in mechanics as a side thing

i did a business degree, graduated when i was 22, have been working on cars since i was 16/17 and helpded on my dads even before then

bank was more then happy to lend me XXk to help start my own business as the most important thing was a business plan to prove yourself to them, which i nailed, but then was offered a very good job so took it

might change plans in a few years as its something i have always wanted to do

Wouldn't bother with the degree your wasting time learning real problems with different cars. My mates done upto hnc i think and regularly goes on specific training courses etc, although there's a new standard that's coming in around mechanics isn't there?!

Well done - my sisters boyfriend is an apprentice mechanic for Honda, he enjoys it. Goes to their college near Heathrow. Not exactly fantastic pay though.

He intends on moving when he has finished at Honda if they don't offer him any more though. Although he did start there when about 18/19.

Well done for getting a head start at 16 - if you want thoughs degrees, go for it. They'll stand you in good stead whether you want to run your own business or not.
