6 inch crack on the passenger side of my windscreen right from the bottom upwards...... is this a fail, i've heard it's ok if it's not on the drivers side

o and removing my spare wheel is ok ?

it would fail any way if it wasnt in the wiper pattern.

if it goes in to the wiper area more than 40mm then it will fail.

taking your spare out should be fine, but windscreen will almost definitely fail

yes screen will fail

Spare wheel removal is fine - they cannot test something that isn't there

If the wheel is present some stations may check it - my mate is an MOT tester - he comes in useful lol

if the crack is outside the swepped area then it will pass if there is any crack over 40mm in the swepped area it will fail if its in the drivers view crack can be no more than 10mm, and the spare wheel will never fail as its not part of the test. the worst they can do is give you an advisory about it.
