Is there a way, without having a trailer?
It's so much hassle trying to source engines and tget them to places, Found a 50 beast with right engine but no tax an mot and its 20 miles away, then 20 miles away from where i need to get it. Then also got to get my car there, still trying to source a tow rope or some method of towing to atach to my bro's van.

you can drive them, just fone up to book an mot at somewhere local then cancel it when you have got the car home as its only legal to drive a vehicle that has no tax/mot on the road if your travelling to an mot test centre.

You catagorically CANNOT have the wheels of a car with no tax on the road under ANY circumstances, not even 2.
It has to be towed if there is no tax.

trailered you mean?, if it was towed it would have wheels on the road.
Wonderboy, my bro's van would pull it, not sure if he's going to want to drive to castleford, then the other end of leeds, back to barnsley and back to leeds with another car for me though.

from what i no its classed as a trailer as the car does not need anyone in it when towed, lots of traders use them to get cars back from auctions .

i think the a-frames are legal is it locks the car in place doesn't and it makes it an extension of the towing car, i know the trader who bought my corsa used one of those. Not really an issue though as i'm not off out to buy an a-frame just for this, Anyone know rough price of of a-frame thing or trailer hire?

i know that unregistered vehicles (ie fresh imports) can be driven to an MOT without tax so i would have thought that a SORN vehicle would be similar.
does the DVLA website not say anything about it?

You can drive SORN'd vehicles to a pre-booked MOT test. I checked with the DVLA when mine needed MOTing after being off the road.

Nice to know for next time cheers. Taking it somewhere local now and they have sourced the engine, just need to get my car there. Just going to use a tow rope for that though, my car is all insured and everything so shouldn't be any prolems.
