anyone who owns them is there anything i should look out for, how does the engine feel and sound, whats the gearbox like lumpy smooth etc etc

only covered 23k so should feel new.

If its the MK4, the gearbox can feel quite notchy when its cold, apparently this is because of the cable linkage, but should go away once its warmed up.

The engine should feel quite smooth. The turbo usually kicks in around 2500rpm, and should pull up to around 5800rpm.

With the mileage that low there shouldn't be that much to look out for. The belts are another 17K away from changing, and the turbo's are usually good for up to abou 80K miles.
