Hi i pulled up on a sloping drive today then pulled up the handbreak the cable snapped with a bang lol started rolling backwards was ok used my foot break then drove straight home to park on the level gonna get it fixed asap but will i be ok driving it or should i only drive to the garage my worry being the cable getting caught up in the wheels etc or are they fixed to the underside of the car ? thanks.

you will be ok driving it, as long as you remember you dont have a hand brake and leave it in gear.
i have a hand brake cable for sale that i only bought a couple of months ago if you want it.
£5 will get it to you for monday or tuesday

hi thanks but i couldn't change the cable myself will take it to a garage or tyre place etc has anybody has this done and what price did you pay? thanks.

about £40
not a lot for cables and hrs work if that
cables are approx £15

this happened to me in exact same circumstances lol, i just drove mine to my local garage and they had a look at it! my rear cable had snapped, the one that goes from drum to drum! they showed me the other cable that runs from rear to front and that was proper frayed too so had them both replaced! cost me 58.75 in total including parts labour and vat!
