I never use it , but today I needed to to jack my car up enough to get my decint 2 tonne jack under.
So I jacked the car up so that the wheel was just off the ground , walked in to the garage to get the 2 tonne jack and as I passed the car I noticed a screw sitting on the tyre , so put my hand on to get the screw off (because I dont really want my tyre to go pop) And then .....
WHACK
Jack gives way and the car slams down onto my hand which is between the fucking wheel and arch
Luckily got it out as the springs bounced but fuck me it could have been nasty !
Lesson learned

I dont even bother using my standard jack
drive car on to blocks of wood then get the two tonne trolley under
Never go under the car without 3-point stands either

My trolley jack is a cheap one so it gradually lets itself down all the time, so cant work on any car without stands. Gona buy and industrial high lift one soon though and a low entry.

One time when I was using mine the jack fucked off from underneath it. They aren't very stable at all. Luckily all wheels were on and no1 was near the car.
Bought a proper jack after that.

The white plastic which would go against the sill split , not even a big split but enough for it to lose grip

They are pretty useles but a cheapo trolley jack can make a nice mess of the underside of your car due to having no rubber protection plates on 'em.

un jack related but my mate had his bmw up on 4 axle stands in my garage last year and it fell off the lot. didnt do any major damage either. wrecked a wing and by some freak of nature type thing i grabed it, and gave it a rough twist back into shape and it was 110% perfect. no paint cracked no dents/damges/ripples. 100% perfect. couldnt believe it, wish all repairs were like that...
