sorry probably been covered a thousand times on here but i want to put a 1.6 in me corsa for a year or so till i can insure an xe
i know the x16xe is a good engine but me mate has got a gte engine in his garage 1.6 8v (going cheap) so what is everyones view what is the best 1.6 engine? i do want to do a few bits inlet etc to make it a bit quicker
mine at the minute is a 12v and i was wondering wether anyone else has done this conversion and what did they do with the cat cause mine is under the bonnet lol

not sure on the code on the gte lump will have to check it out and i dont want to sell the car either spent a bit of time on making it look the way i like (i know it wont be to the taste on anyone on here lol) i only really want a 1.6 for a year or so just cause the 12v is so boring but need another years ncb really till i can xe it

either wait till you can insure the xe or get a 1.6 sport otherwise you'll pay more for insurance on your car now as it will be classed as modified

unless the gte lump is a c16se or a e16se i wouldnt bother puting it in.they dont have enough power to justify the engine swap.

if the gte lump is shite then what about a x16xe?
its classed as modified anyway due to the bodykit etc lol so not to worried about that i just want to kind of finish the car off looks nice (too me ) i know you lot will not like it what so ever it even got featured from the previous owner in total vauxhall so i really want to finish it off with something with a bit of nip

the gte lump is far from shite really and if cheap enough i dont see why its a bad idea to fill a stop-gap until you can insure a 20xe as you say

but surely swapping all my bits kit etc and buying another car would cost me far more than just paying a bit extra on insurance cause you always loose money?
