The old gear knob had become loose and was spinning on the shaft. It wouldn't unscrew as whatever it was screwed in to was loose too. The gear knob was drilled in to and a centre punch was put in to try and grab on to whatever was loose. After a few minutes jiggling it came off! The thread was butchered and there was resin everywhere and some insulation tape at the bottom I can't believe anyone would do such a bodge. A nut was screwed on to the shaft to re thread it, luckily it worked and I've got the new Prodrive knob on.

not convinced really. i think someone is trying to make lite-fun of a good thread from a decent member of the board.
