Each time I drink, I wake up either in the middle of the night or really early morning and it feels like my heart rate is doubled. Seriously, it is like my heart is about to beat out my chest.
I've started to notice it more and more. I only ever noticed it when I'd had a skinful and thought it was just a side effect of my hangover but last night I went out and had 3 pints and 2 cans of Red Stripe. That was all, not excessive, not down-in-one but over the period of 6 hours. First time I've had a drink this week. Woke up at 6.30 this morning and my heart rate was totally though the roof.
I can get quite anxious sometimes even when Im not drinking but I can't see why drinking would do this to me. Its got to the point where it is so bad that I'm going to have to stop drinking cause its not worth feeling like this.
Anyone got any ideas?

Happened to me a fair bit over the summer, i've carried on regardless, and it seems to be all right(ish) now.
Obviously it ain't good, but i hate doctors, and i don't want someone to tell me i'm properly ill and shouldn't ever drink again

funny how we would rather die than know something is wrong in the first place

Does the heart rate settle down after you wake?

My heart rate usually settles during the day but I just feel generally on edge and anxious. Goes away if I dont drink for a while.
I think that I'm going to take it very easy over Christmas and New Year and then stop altogether in the New Year and see what happens. Its got to the point where the side effects outweigh the enjoyment so its got to go.

Sounds like panic attacks/anxiety to me...
Stop drinking caffeine and cut out white bread, see if that helps

Yep, I think its anxiety or panic attacks too. Cutting out caffine aint a problem, I like bread though!
