I phoned the inland revenue and whined. If you have a staff manager moan at them.

I work for HBOS, and there's no Staff Manager, I just phoned our payroll department each week and asked them what Tax code i'm supposed to be on and can they sort it.

a br tax code can cost you no more than £1100 a year, so less than £100 a month asuming you are in employment for 12 months of the tax year

most peolpe have a tax free alowance of £5000ish a year, a BR code means you pay 22% on everything you earn, so you simply loose the 22% of the 5000 allowance (untill you claim it back)

£987 looks roughly like a gross of £13500 PA expect to get about £360 back of the £987 you have paid

Dont we all mate with my studnet loan, Income Tax, and NI combined I loose 44% anything I earn over £15,000 a year

You will only get back the difference between what you have paid and what you should of paid as I said in most cases this is less than £100 a month
