i want to get a private plate from dvla whats needed once bought the plate from them?
1. to have it put on car?
2. tax disc??
3. log book??
what needs done + how thanks

If you read the DVLA website it tells you it all there. You have to get all your documents changed to the new reg too, but they arrange all that.

My dad and brother have both got private plates so I've got a bit of an idea.
If you get it from DVLA it will be on retention cert. All fees will be included in price. Anywhere else you usually have to pay VAT and transfer on top.
Just send Retention Cert. Log Book and MOT Cert. I think.
After a few weeks you'll get a new Tax Disc through the post. At this point change plates and tax disc, and send old tax disc back. Few weeks later you get Log book and MOT cert. back with new reg. Sorted.
Don't forget to tell insurance, or you won't be insured.
