'couple mistake light for fire in the boiler'

a couple called out firefighters - because they thought their boilers pilot light was a fire.
The man and woman, of asian origin who have only just come to the uk, turned off the electric but could not understand why the flame was still aligt at the property in Armory lane, old portsmouth.

Watch manager at southsea fire station, ian jeffrey, said 'it was a bit funny really because they saw a flame and rang us at about 2am. they only knew the basics of english but we explained what it was and put their minds at ease'.

Get em out I say.
