Well my 1.2 8v has just blown its head gasket! So im thinking its about time i just get a new lump put in there!!
Just wondering exactly what i will need basically! Current engine is a 1.2 8v from a Corsa LS 1994. I want to be putting in either a 1.4 or 1.6 8v lump (would like at least 70bhp, i know the 1.4SRI is 82bhp, and the 1.6 lumps vary between 70-100bhp).
So what would i need? From what i've read i can think of the following; Engine, Engine Wiring Loom, ECU, Fuel Pump. Would my gearbox mate to either of the new engines? I quite like my gear box! Anything else?
Thanks
Matty

A 1.4 8v spi engine will just plug straight in
Gains aren't going to bad great tho.
For MPi you'll need change the fuel pump, and get the engine loom etc to wire into the cars loom.
It depends what gearbox your 1200 has, if its a f10 it probably wont fit a 1.4/1.6 engine.

an f10 would fit, but wouldnt be the best option, better to fit an f13 which would possibly come with the sri engine anyway

If the 1.4/1.6 had a F13 originally then a F10 wont fit as the F13 bell housing is bigger to clear the larger fly wheel/clutch.
A f10 wont clear the flywheel.

im also interested in doing this conversion!! might look for a 1.4 lump to re build at work.
so a spi 1.4 lump will fit straight in with original mounts, loom and pump??

I've seen F13's stamped in the same place as F10s.

but not all of them have it, so if it says nothing, its an F13.

Its a 5 speed gearbox. Thanks for the info.
What about the ECU? Also will the exhaust manifold fit the larger lump?!
