I bought something pay now on ebay & its not arrived after 12 days, I emailed the seller to say I have not recieved the item yet & when will it be posted & he responded it was sent on 20/11/06.

What do I do now?? I assume he's telling the truth that hes sent it because he's got really good feedback & the item was not expensive.

What do I do now??

The postage on the item was £1.15 for 2nd class standard mail (which is alot considering 2nd class mail is only 23p) & I see hes got Postal insurance £1.15 Optional which ive not taken because I didnt think I would need to because they offer compensation of up to £32 for loss or damage, providing you show your free certificate of posting.

What should I email back saying to him???

Ask him to refund your money or send a replacement. Its unlikely to get here now anyway. I never bother with insurance, as if I don't receive the item i'll make a claim through Paypal if they don't refund me or send a replacement.

Paypal claim and let them decide

or ask for a proof of postage.

Was recorded delivery offered in the listing?

I sent email saying that it should really be here by now & will he send me another one?

If he says no, or I should have used postal insurance i'll tell him that he should be the one filling for compensation from the Royal Mail not me & that if he doesnt refund / send a new one i'll give bad feedback & claim for a refund through paypal.

Im glad its for not alot of money, 1st time ive bought something & its not arrived!!

Ask him for proof of postage 1st of all to know he has sent it....Sending anything by 1st or even 2nd class you still get proof of postage..

Then ask for refund/replacement

If still not forth coming leave poor feedback and contact ebay and fill out a item not received form.

then contact paypal and get money back.

Hi Colin,
I agree with you that the diode should have been deliverd to you after 11 days, it would appear that royal mail may have lost your parcel, this is the main reason that i always offer a optional insurance for £1.15 on all my sales, that way i can claim from royal mail for any loss's, looking back at your purchace i note that this offer was not excepted by yourself and therefor i am sorry to say that i will be unable to send to you a replacement diode for this reason or a refond.
My hope for you is that it may still turn up.
Kind regards
John.

I sent-

John, Royal Mail offer compensation for losses up to £32 with 2nd class post. I am hardly going to pay you double postage price to 'insure' something that is already insured by the courier. If the parcels went missing its up to you to claim back your losses. If you are not offering a replacement item or refund I will have no choice but to claim through paypal & leave negative feedback. I will give until Monday to see if anything turns up (doubtful) then begin proceedings.

Regards, Colin.

I wonder if he has actually posted it since he knows why he offered that insurance and instead of insurance he should have provided recorded delivery. Ask him for a proof of delivery, if he cannot provide it, whether you take insurance or noit, he will need to refund.

Just make a claim via Paypal

Nice lad nice -

Colin,
Thankyou for the additional information regarding claiming back any loss's from the post office for lost items in the post, these were details that i was unaware of, should i have known these facts then i would have only expected orders over £32.00 to except my offer of taking out the insurance that i had offerd.
Due to the supplied information that you have kindly offerd i am willing to except your word that the item (one diode) that i posted to you at your address has not been received by yourself and was not deliverd to your address by royal mail.
I have sold and posted many diodes to very satisfied customers without any complaints, has can be seen in my positve feedback, it is a shame that i seemingly have to be held responsible for the mistakes made by Royal Mail.
I do not wish to send a replacement to yourself due to the fact that it too may get lost in the post, therefor i will give a refund to you for your purchace which was not deliverd, to be made payable via Paypal.
Kind Regards
John.

Good to get a refund but I need a blocking Diode for my engineering project!
