I'd go for unused personally.
You're still gonna cook from the inside out though

As you can see by my eyes - the Russian one is very VERY air tight!

They have one, just when they decide to throw it towards the west, invest in protection now before the prices skyrocket....

Nah, it'll more than likely develop an electrical fault and require a new convinience control unit

Ojc - had the German one many many years - probably at least 15 - bought it from a friend who's grandad was in the war and killed the German soldier who it used to belong to - still has that German soldiers nametag on one of the straps - it is complete with metal case and as you can see is pretty battle damaged.
The Russian one I bought a couple of years ago, it is in a brown canvas satchel (don't think it's the correct holder for it though) and it's unused.
I purchased them because I have a interest in WW2, I also have a genuine Desert Rats map of Cairo hanging on my wall infront of my PC - one of my grandad's was a desert rat - it's a awesome piece, it has pencil marks on it from the war indicating things like minefields etc etc.
As for the safety of it - the German one is probably a bit iffy, the Russian one is ununsed and should be safe.
