Can someone explain how these work? I should be recieving one tomorrow for £250 an i was just wondering if it as simple as i walk into the post office and hand them the postal order and they give me the £250 cash?

ID would be suitable yes, to prove you are the one the Postal Order was sent to.
I have no idea what I'm talking about by the way.

on 2 occasions i have used postal orders i have not been asked for id, which is a bit unsecure

postal orders are insecure, if it gets into the wrong hands then anyone can cash it in. hope it gets to you ok, take ID to be on the safe side

You don't need ID, they are like cash, you don't need ID to cash them as it's only optional to put the payee's name on them...
