See im not sure about this one..

a) im not sure i'd WANT to do 170+mph in a Corsa.
b) Akeemkings regulary does 160+mph on his stack, and you know how well his cars done. Last i saw was 164mph with a boost leak. His is running circ 300-320bhp...

So, theoretically, Tims COULD get near that, but im not sure about 174mph, thats a lot more speed (wind resistance over 150 doubles, kinda like Audio when you hit 145db, getting 1db more requires twice the power etc..).

Im still not sure if i believe it or not. Maybe not, but it should have done near 170 if it was running right. Weight doesn't effect top end remember.

Are you forgetting something?

Brunters is a LOT shorter than the road I hoofed it down. Seriously I'll take anybody that wants to down it (not a top speed run though), I''d say its an easy 3 miles, and I was doing 70 when I came onto it.

I imagine Rod Tarry's car would be bouncing off the limiter by the time it'd reached the crest of a hill on there.

Only had one run down Brunters for topspeed, and pussied the braking, think it was 155 or something. Spent all my time with the equipment trying to do 0-100-0 again.

I invite anybody to see what 7150(ish) revs equates to in top gear with 16's on

It pulled like a train to 160, then took ages (and a bit of downhill) to creep up.

Were a fair few people there, and lots of cars trying the same, and all there said my shed looked noticably quicker.

I have no idea how the engine didn't melt, as when I pulled up and popped the bonnet the manifold was still red. And it popped a core plug out.

Russ at Wallace Performance in Aberdeen might be up for that... he managed 166mph i think it was at TOTB in his Mk2 Astra GTE.

want do you think a 310bhp 6 speed corsa would get with 17's on??? May be smaller by march!!!

top end on a just over 1 mile runway will be affected by weight

i was in the car with steve, and it went well past the 140 mark when he let off it took a little while for the speedo to catch up...

Also i should add the F28 box with a raised rev limit on the LET will do just over an indicated 140mph in 5th

i wouldnt know .. my speedo only goes up to 130

In fifth at 7500rpm on 17's you would be doing 164 by my book.

I had to drive home 50 miles with that dodgy core plug, it drank more water than I do!

when the car has its 2nd wind and decided to up the boost when going over 130mph.. that was pretty scary.

thankfully all these little "quirks" have been sorted.

yeah i think i will miss the car more than i think i will..

was doing a few lil bits n bobs at the weekend. it started first time after 2 months sitting there.. let it tick over for about 10mins then went for a spin around the block.. WOW i missed that power.

im driving a 1.4 Pug 306 every day.. so a Tubby Corsa was like stepping into a Rally Car

was pretty good fun.. did miss that.
