i think that is wat its called,it sits on the right hand side of the engine beside the power steering fluid bottle.is it possible to remove it and if so wats involved.the car has an aftermarket exhaust manifold btw

It's called that or the exhaust gas recirculation valve. You can take the piping off, but you need to blank the valve off to allow it to still work so you don't throw an ECU fault off. Have a search because this has been covered and I can't remember exactly how it's all done...
