Right I have to do an essay for a media module i'm taking at uni.
I have to compare two gendered websites....
Here is the offical blurb:
The Report: The two websites this year must be one aimed primarily at males and one aimed primarily at females. In other demographic respects (and in general content) the sites should be as similar as possible. The comparison is therefore of 'formal features' of the site (form/style/structure/appearance) more than with 'content' although references to content also may be made. An obvious example would be the websites of two magazines, for instance. In the report I will expect appropriate reference to relevant semiotic concepts, notably:
# signifier,
# signified,
# code,
# connotation,
# paradigm
# syntagm and
# the commutation test.
I suggested that I do FHM Vs Glamour Magazine but I got this as a reply
"It will do, but its a bit boring. So you can do it,
but I suggest you think more about gendered websites, and what kind of
products are given a gendered spin, or what kind of subjects are
specifically gendered."
So thats got me thinking.....
Could I base it on car sites? Or would there not be enough to compare on the two different sites? There is alot of youth culture type stuff on them though, Im confused!
Are there any cruising/car sites aimed soley at females? Any aimed soley at males?
Thanks in advance

Not just car sites, I need some good suggestions for anything that would make a good analysis of how the two items are presented.
