Go for it mate, my GTI is much better than the corsa GSI I had, it would be pretty close in a straight line but on the twisties my gti would leave it for dead.
As for build quality the 106 aint that bad, well mine aint anyways but thats a good thing, lighter means quicker and will corner better

I loved my 106
Would love a stripped out throttle bodied one as a track car one day

Supercharge a 1.6 16v TU engine and stick it in an AX.

106gti would pull a comfortable distance from a gsi, a gsi straight line speed is pish, iv owned both cars

That is a nice GTi (When it had the GTi-6 wheels on)
The handling is very good on them but I wouldn't have one over a Corsa Turbo just cos of how fast the turbo is

Na, the lighter S1 16v would be faster.
It just so happens we have two... one with and one without TB's. (149bhp & 166bhp)

The S2 is easier on the eye, i agree the S1 is more hardcore looking... and more of a sleeper.

I got a hurl in Dave's (helium head) 2.0 Corsa on Sat... i was disappointed when he changed at the 6k rpm redline.
It almost like owning a diesel.

Rab - Loved your 106 m8 , used to see after you sold around about rutherglen area for a while , and seen it a few times in Larkhall . Just really always fancied a 106 Gti on T/b's . Just think i will stick with the turbo for now after driving at the weekend . Will get my exhaust done at end of month and should be alot better again
Cheers for the comments etc.
