Went out to watch the last VLN race of the season, as my mate races in it and the car he built has finished all races this year! For anyone that doesn't know the VLN is a series of endurance races held at the Nurburgring. The cars race over the combined Nordschleife/GP circuit, which I believe is approx 16miles in total, the mk2 Golf that my mate races has a record of 10min24secs for the combined lap  which equates to a very low 8 min Nordshleife lap There are many classes that run in the same race, so grids are often circa 200 cars, which makes for very busy pits and track. I was very pleased to have free run of the pits, so I did my tourist bit and took a load of pics with my camera phone, enjoy!!!
The mk2 golf my mate built and races

A couple of the more exciting GM based entries

Some of the sexier machinery

the golf is in a much lower class than the others, there were many comparable cars to the golf but I didn't think they'd make as interesting viewing as the exotics
They do love their aero mods out there tho, that's where I got the bug from, expect to see a huge diffuser on my nova some time soon

More pics on here http://20832.com/?rubrik=fotos&lang=eng&type=r
The golf is a 2.0 16v, with modified head, cams, L+B, ARP bolts, 4 branch and side exit exhaust. The best thing is that its dead reliable, the car has finished all races this season, which is half the battle in endurance racing

Its circa 200bhp at the moment, will most likely be getting dry sumped this winter which should free up a few more gee-gees

My bad, its the ABF 2.0 litre 16v iirc. Don't really know my VAG engines so not sure what the original output would be, it runs K-jet mechanical fuel injection if that helps
