Decided that we need a bigger car. want something quick, reliable etc... and 4 doors as Josie (my daughter) is getting bigger and its a squeeze getting her in and out of the back all the time. original thoughts were:
Leon Cupra
Astra Gsi turbo (3 door though )
Vectra Gsi (older shape)
Evo 7 (my favourite)
The leon is ok but the missus doesnt like the lack of view out of the rear (she crashed the last leon while reversing) Vecta I like but the missus thinks they look a bit dated, Evo 7 is an option but a bit out of price range at the moment, Astra Gsi has 3 doors, then i thought about a Zafira. I have always liked them but now they can be had on a 2003 plate with 40k for around 8-9k. it has the space we want, looks ok, ok to insure and we both like them. it will also be good as I wont need to buy a van seperately for the business.
Am I getting too old and sensible. Please tell me if I am

Zafira GSi is a good choice for a family man who doesn't want to feel past it yet.
Go for it Dave

I like the Zafira Gsi seen a nice one the day..
What about a Volvo S40 T4 all the trimmings and speed.....
Veccy gsi is a good choice too...
What about a new shape vectra 3.0 GSi?

new shape vec is not my cup of tea, too bubbly and boring looking. the Evo is probably a bit out of reach at the moment, just spent £50k in the last 2 months
volvo is an option but I havnt driven one as yet, probably wrong but i imagine them to be a bit too refined.
and ash, less of the 'past it' comments.

if it ticks all the box's then why not!! You have a business to run & a kid, looking cool / going fast doesnt seem as important

I didn't mean to imply you were, I meant if you're not past it, but have the needs of a family to consider, the Zaf is a good compromise.
Or a 1.8 Meriva with your son's old alloys (to use up the tyres) and an exhaust he bought you for father's day...

They look ok actually jr

Thing that annoys me most when driving the Vaux MPVs is the extra sodding pillar behind the A pillar, really blocks your view on roundabouts etc.

Running costs of an Evo are very expensive, Fuel gauge moves almost as quick as the speedo. Id go Leon Cupra out of your list.

My old Zafira Gsi was surprisingly fast and clocked 142 mph with a few tweeks.

Find one with the xenons and full leather and if poss climate and you will have a fully loaded bus.

That Meriva VXR looks alright.
Same number plate as the Corsa C OPC photo(shops).
Is the Meriva real or another "could be"?
