This kid reckons for every 1kg in weight you increase a wheel the effective bodyweight of the car is increased by 10kgs, sound like crap to you?

No doubt that reducing the unsprung weight of the vehicle has a major effect on acceleration, but I'm not sure on the 1kg to 10kg ratio.

not completely.

if you have a wheel weight with a mass of 10g, at 60mph, it weighs more than at a standstill, due to centrifugal force.

so, he's sort of right, it will affect the weight of the car.
