i have the misfortune of being a prison officer for a private company in the uk. basically we run the prison, but under a contract from the government.

the pay is 18.5k per year, but i have to do 44hrs a week for that. the company treat us like shite, the hours are awful, the inmates are mostly idiots and i wish i had never started!!

do NOT work for a private prison, go for public prison, hours better, money better, more authority and powers, generally much better place to work.

pm me if you want any info

I worked as an OSG at a public prison for a while, thats one down from a prison officer.

I was on just under £8 an hour, whatever that works out at. I was only there for a temp job so I got given all the shite jobs. Didnt particularly enjoy it.
