Right, i been driving nearly three years , ive had one claim, i am now to buy a new car and the difference between thirdparty fire and theft and full comp is nearly a 700 difference !!

i was thinking of just doing the cheaper option, but worried it will bite me in the ass if i have a crash ?

simple explanation of the two types of cover please and any opinions ?

cheers

TPFT covers you for fire and theft, and the other car/person involved if you crash.

FC covers your car in a crash as well as the rest.

the other thing you need to consider is that in most cases, a 8+year old corsa will be deemed a write-off, even if you can get it fixed elsewhere for a few hundred quid or so...

is FC really worth it??

Totally depends what the car is worth imo.

agreed

im paying £862 FC on the Omega at present, the car cost me £350 when I bought it... Only reason I am paying so much is because of 6 points...

If it was more than £950 I would of just sold on the Omega & got something cheaper, as £950 is what I deem the Omega to be worth looking on AT & other places...

I cant justify paying more to insure a car than what it is actually worth.

Your paying £862 on a £350 car?

Fuck that, go TPFT or TPO. You'll still get your no claims building up.
I wouldn't worry about writing a £350 car off.

no, the car cost me £350 as spares/repairs, but it is worth around £950 (simple fix which the previous owner was quoted over 1k to sort from Vaux )

Fully comp insured so if I do get it pranged, I can still fix it myself, otherwise if its my fault & beyond repair, I can still get what I paid for it back + more.

Plus TPFT or TPO didnt give me cover to drive other cars, which comes in handy tbh!

If you could prove it was their fault you would be covered on their insurance.

from my experiance. tpft with admiral means u pay loads for your insurance and if u try and claim u get jack shit from them in return. when my gsi was hit by an uninsured driver, it didnt get fixed so i had to foot the bills and then whe it was stolen at the end of teh year and burnt out, my insurance wouldnt payout at all. insurance is a total waste of time in my eyes now

wankers ! i think people do respect you alot more if you have fully comp (police especially) i was in an accident and i had full comp, and the other guy invoice only had third party, so they didnt care about him, got me a tow truck and everything , was surprisingly easy.

Im just thinking in the long run, is an extra 700 pounds guna be wasted or well spent ?

I hit a merc recently, my fault.

The corsa sustained quite a bit of damage, more than the difference of going FC.

When i get her back on the road, she WILL be going FC.
