if you were getting a new car, and needed to insure it for the journey home, but your current insurer won't insure it, what do you do?
if the policy ends in 14 days, but you don't want to cancel it, is it possible to leave it running for those 14 days, or would the new owner not be able to insure it then?
what about starting a policy for the new car, and cancelling the current one when you collect the car? is that the best way?

just, no. ring up and cancel it asap. they are the worst ever people to have a policy with. trust me. I have had loads of trouble just getting docs etc from them. A lad near here had his car stolen and it was with quin. 2 months later, they havnt been in touch and are being funny about it when he rings in took them 1 month just to log the claim on the system.
they lost my 1 years no claims bonus because they decided to cancel my policy 1 month from it ending, then start up a new one (all without telling me) when I asked where my no claims was they told me I didnt have one! and that because the policy was cancelled before the 12 month term was up I didnt get the no-claims.
I went to the insurance ombudsman, they managed to get my no claims for me but the cheeky bastards at quinn wouldnt accept that and decided to cancel my 2nd policy (again without notice) 2 months into it and not pay any money back out of the £500 I had paid them. their reason was that I had broken the terms and conditions of the policy
anyway, got my £500 back and my no claims in the end, took 2 cases with the insurance ombudsman though. Infact, I am still waiting for my noclaims certificate from them 4 months on.....
theres a website somewhere that insurance users can post good and bad trade stories on, quinn are one of the worst, ill see if I can find it.
