Quite easily Jules.
Top Fuel cars can suffer catastrophic engine failures.

It's strange. I've never even considered the bank, and was just wondering the other day whether I should give it a try next time round.
I shan't now.

I can't see them stopping access on a permanet basis though Ian, especially on busy days.
There should be a memorial placed on that side though.
Poor soul, what a lousy way to go. I feel for his family too.

I've stood on the bank at the euro finals many a time.
this is just bad luck, being unfortunate enough to be in just the wrong place

This is the first accident of any kind, never mind something as awful as a fatality that I have ever heard of at Santa Pod.

i've never known of a spectator being injured, drivers yes, but they know the risks and all that...
like i say, i think its just a freak accident, a terrible shame, because the chap died, and because it could, quite concieveably, be the end of Santa Pod

Indeed.
Look what Concorde's first accident did to a craft with an otherwise blemish free safety record.
Was deffo a nail in the coffin.

“My personal opinion is that the parachute had a lot to do with it.
“The come out at such immense speed and maybe something off the car was flung out in to the crowd.
