someone explain this to me...

all 4 cars garaged, cat 1 alarm, limited mileage.

Golf VR6 - £1264.68
Golf GTi 16v Mk3 - £1334.91
Corrado VR6 - £1163.00
Corrado G60 - £1324.68

How the hell is the 2 litre GTi more to insure than a 2.8 VR6?

and how are they only about 10% more to insure than my 1.4 corsa?

Well cant you put down your mum as the main driver and you as a named driver? Im 17 and yeah a 1.2 is going to be cheaper anyway but its only £267 3rd party for me.

Lots of factors effect insurance, the GTi name alone will hike up the premium.

Dont fight it marriott just accept it & get the better car

i'm not bothered about the money, i'd rather continue getting my NCB built up, i'm insured on my own at the moment, and i'm not going back to named driver status.

i was just surprised that the GTi was more than the VR

i know the badge will affect it, but bumping it up to more than the flagship car in the range is ridiculous.

i'm not gonna argue with it though, it works to my advantage

they are all lowish, because like cav and calibra turbos, they are classed as undesirable cars that have a low theft risk

corsa insurance is high for what they are because they are mostly driven by youngsters

I'm sure they just use a random number generator for insurance. I have had quotes between £800 and £2k for my 1.2 16v Corsa
