he's probably just saying that to scare you into going. YOur best bet is to go see CAB citizens Advice Bureau, explain the situation and see what they say.

If you go and then lie in court you commit Perjury which is not a good place to be. At the moment you haven't really committed any offence so when you go tell the truth.

I was in the same situation a few years ago, was asked by a good friend (and still is a good friend) if I would support his defence case. He was up for dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention.

Gave an accurate statement to his solicitor who added a bit of spin to make my mate sound a lot less guilty but not completely innocent.

Anyway, I went to court on the day at the request of his solicitor, not the police or the crown prosecution service and...............didn't get called to the stand

I don't think you have to attend unless instructed to by a magistrate or the police so I wouldn't bother

I went to crown court when i was 15 to testify against someone but the case got dismissed when we were in the waiting room. As everyone has said, im pretty sure if the prosecution have called you then you have to go or you can get in quite a lot of trouble.
Least you aren;t the one being prosecuted, that's really not fun.

if you don't turn up and it's at crown court as opposed to magistrates, the judge can issue a warrant for your arrest so that you appear before the court.

just turn up! it's not that bad but wouldn't tell any of those little white lies
