Bait taken, and hooked in....

Nahh, Tom, your right, seriously, its not mine, its the old mans, I bottled a ride on it last night, too many bikers about and was getting dark, i'll leave it for another day...

Its a Benelli Tornado 900cc 3 cyclinder.

Im stuck with the slow, but fun to ride SV650 You can just see its ears poking out on that picture. I take Donna out on the back regulary though, shes got all the kit.

Donnas got the cars, i want another bike for the weekend, they were trying to perswade me to get a Benelli last night. As long as Donnas got a car we can thrash round a track

Never know, old man wants the streetfigher version, his may become available.

Few more pics next to the RS version that came out a few years later....

Why did u bottle it, not gonna be a whole stupid lot quicker than yours power delivery would be quite similar (well not as bad as jumping on a revvy ass 4 pot fucker anyway :lol is the engine based on the triumph speed triple, just a guess same kind of capacity?

For the right money it'd be well worth buying, suppose it's probably quite tempremental being italian though

Yellow/black one looks nice

Nooo, totally different bikes dude. Totally different engines and everything.

My SV does about 135, his does 186 in standard format.

Its a through and through superbike. Mental engine on it. I will have a go, he did offer, but it was at a bike meet, it was after the pictures were taken and we'd done the tea hut and was getting dark.

I wanted to, but theres another time and place, and its his pride and joy, i'd rather take it out down some nice quiet B roads where its a lot safer and I can actually ride the bike opposed to going up and down the road and round roundabouts

Still go for about £6k I think. Not yet, not unless he's buying me it, which i HIGHLY doubt

Yellow/Black is the RS model, check the front forks, brakes etc. Few improvements over the earlier (Green silver, dads one) model.

Cool, don't know much about them obviously in all honesy my step dade used to have an old school benelli years back after his bsa c15

Is that all your sv does I thouigh it'd be alot quicker tbh. My mates 600's which both are 4 cyl's i suppose do more about 165.

The rs does look slightly more heavy duty but your old mans is hardly shy both upside downy's on etc. Is the arm and frame etc different too?

Wooo bike chat, see they are so cool You got one yourself? Go do your license, well worth it, even just to have it there...

Yeah, the SV isn't a top speed bike, but i've got bags of power from as low as 3000rpm up to 10,500rpm (starts tailing off about 9k). Any gear, just open the throttle and it'll pull. Its a Vee Twin engine, so bags of grunt, but only 70bhp. So its on par with the Hornet, Diversion 600 etc... Its a different kind of bike to say a CBR/GSXR/R6 600 range. They are sports bikes, its more of a kind of commuter/cruiser. 600cc sports bikes leave me for dead after abouty 70-80mph, but the book speed 0-60mph is about 3.5, so its not slow off the mark. Done a 12.4 1/4 mile at Pod a while back Was only crossing at 107mph though.

You will find the IL4 sports bikes really need to be at 7000rpm upwards before they start moving. I've heard a lot of bad press about the new R6 range as its too quick, you can't use the power as everything right at the top of the revs at 15,000-16,000rpm (this 18,000+rpm stuff is all BS from Yam, max power is about 15,800rpm). It seems the Jap makers are reading max power mag with their power claims... Big review on it recently.

Theres a really populare race series called the MiniTwins. Basically standard bikes, no more than 75bhp (seems funny doesn't it SXI power baby....), but is a very very popular series.

Think that Benelli was £15,000 brand new, but he got it for £13k.... More money than me thats for sure, mine cost £2000 ha ha ha...

I know the sv's a v-twin's obviously alot different to proper sports bikes just thought it may have topped out a bit higher but still a 12.4 is pretty good going

Nah i've not got a bike was considering doing it a while back and may still do it just to get my license young and blag a go on mates bikes Been around bikes for years though regularly go to meets on back of mates bikes. Best mates have got gsxr6 and a 636 but been on all sorts from xj13's to the sit-up suzuki gsx1400 jobbies to ktm's.

As for the current range of 6's the only one I would go near is the gsxr apart from a few bits looking cheap it's about the most sensible looking, size and rpm limit

Sorry, wasn't meaning to insult your intelligence, just didn't know your bike knowledge Nahh, its pretty slow overall, but for what I need it for (commuting to central london every day), it spot on, low revs, but easily chuckable when I take a "detour down the back roads" home sometimes. Quite a big fan base as well, muchos advice needed from the forums, including free use of the poncy engine tool from someone on there (couldn't take the engine out otherwise).

Plus they do rideouts, meetings etc, quite a following. But its my work tool, i want a "proper" toy now

I'd say go for the test for sure. As you say, you can get a bike whenever then, and given this countrys rule changes as and when they see fit, i can only see it getting harder and harder, and more expensive.

Agreed, the 600's are quick enough these days
