Anyone ever been? Hoping to book a holiday there, saw a very nice deal and quite keen. Did a wee bit of research but found that that area seems to be a bit of a gay capital lol. Is it true or am I just being really homophobic?

Tenerife/Fuertaventura are better bets IMO, wasn't overly keen on GC :S
we were near the (gay) yumbo cte! best areas are aguila roja and the english bit (4get the name!)

yeah my gf says she found somewhere there too. Is there a good nightlife? Things to do?

Avoid the Kasbah like the plague it is the biggest fucking cess pit (quite literally) I have ever had the misfortune to visit

Just been there about a month ago. Was a really nice place, there is 3 separate bits to it. Where we were the Casbah centre was 5 mins walk away, that has all the normal bars. Pacha, china whites, cream, linekars and all them.
Then there is the Yumbo centre, that is the gay bit, we went there one night it was a bit of an eye opener and I was'nt really keen on that bit.
There is also an Irish bit, loads of Irish bars, apparantly Gran canaria is like Ibiza to the Irish.
It was a really good holiday. Anything else you need to know just ask.

So if I was to choose out of the three places Peurto Rico, Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles? Keeping in mind we would like a bit of peace but not so much that it isnt to far to walk into town for a night out. Fussy I know. This is the place i was looking at

We were in the Gran Canaria princess hotel, which was 5 mins walk to the Casbah centre which is where we went most nights. So we were'nt in the middle, so was nice and peaceful if we wanted it to be or we could just take a quick walk into town.

I went there, was a bit quiet for my liking - few bars and that but not really 'mental' so to speak.
I found places like Zante, Ibiza and magalouf were better

Out of the three places you mention I say Peurto Rico is the best comprimse of all the things you're after. We actually found ourselves getting taxis from Playa Del Ingles because we prefered it

Maspolamos IS Play del Ingles... well, basically... they are sperated buy a bit of beach but maspolamos is the quiter night time bit...
