Girlfriend is coming towards finishing learning to drive, and wants to buy a car!!
Weve got about £3500 to spend, and she likes Clio's, Corsa C's and Ford Ka's!!
I think she prefers the Clio to the other two, but im just wondering which one to go for spec wise!! Preferably we want all the luxuries, Leccy windows and mirrors, power steering, central locking, air con, etc!!
And obviously she has just passed and is 18 so wants a small engined one!!

Ive had a look and seen a 2001 Renault Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v that seems to be about £3000 and have most of the extras she wants!!

Anyone got any other suggestions for models, engine, extras, etc!!

Cheers

certainly not the Ka! I think the 1.2 16V corsa comfort has a lot of toys - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2002-VAUXHALL-CORSA-COMFORT-16V-SILVER_W0QQitemZ250020918875QQihZ015QQcategoryZ9858QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Corsas are cheaper to insure than clios too.

right well lets rule Ka out then, as she werent really sure on that!!

So which corsa and clio models have we got to compare then!?

about 2001-2002 reg
about £3000
smallish engine
cheap insurance
cheap to run
as many extras/luxuries as possible (aircon, power steering, ew, etc)

this is the kinda thing she wants:

think she prefers black aswell, so if ya can find any black corsa c's or clio's which match most of the criteria, please post up a link to the advert and we can have a look!!

she also prefers it colour coded so if ya find one colour coded, that will be a big bonus (although we can easily get that done once its been bought)

I'd be thinking Corsa over the rest. The Clio will probably fall apart!! The Ka is horrible!!

Exhausts a prone to falling off, did do on my mates Cup and on others I've read about. Trim has been known to fall off/break too.

I've also heard bad things about the strength/reliability of the clio, so would avoid this choice.

My mate had no plans to touch his, but the exhaust cracked off from the centre section and Renault wanted £600 for a replacement. An aftermarket stainless one was cheaper! Also some of the trim surrounding the gear lever broke!

renault=french=crap=will probably fall off!!! saxo's fall to pieces aswell as all peugeots. cant stand the bloody french!!! stick with a good old corsa c sxi, comes with air con, leccy windows + mirrors, electronic power steering on all corsa's, plus the usual sxi silver trim interior + alloys. are cheap to insure, quite quick for a 1.2 and are overall good cars. U KNOW ITS THE RIGHT CHOICE!!

my experience working on clios is that the build quality is nowhere near the 2004> corsas.

the dodgy plastic wings put me off, press a clios wing with your finger, you will see what I mean, they are thinner than your average margerine tub

Yeah Clio's are no good for reliability my m8 had a clio now it sits on his drive coz its f**ked exhaust falls off and engine problems cost him a bomb in repairs plus renault parts are dearer then corsas. Corsa all the way!!!
