... i want to blend my gsi arches and side skirts into the panels to give it a smooth effect but bodyshop has recommended not to do it, cause it will crack eventually and he can't gaurantee his work.

Basically cause your bonding plastic to metal and the car has vibrations & 'flex' when driving it will cause it to crack.

Personally i think it looks better smoothed in, but i don't want to keep getting it repaired.

Should i take the risk?? Or just get the pieces colour coded?

if done properly then it should last a long time, if the guy in bodyshop can't guarantee his work then find a place that does smoothing in alot and they'll do a better job

From what your saying it will last a long time but not forever........

so can you guarantee it will never crack?

its impossible to say it will never crack cos at the end of the day its fiberglass and filler and if enough pressure is put on it, it will crack easily!

and if a person makes a gaurentee that it will never crack then tbh they are not that clever cos it will eventually!

Yeha most likely mine will crack one day but i bolted, boned,Skimmed,Fibreglassed then fillered on my archs and they dont move the only weak spot on my car is near the door on the skirts as thats the bit that get the most wear and tear..

Ok i've decided to against the blend in, cause i don't wanna keep spending £££ on the bodywork as i need to work on the engine too.

Watch out for this space...

if its done properly it will "NEVER" crack

unfortunately in the bodyshop/car modifying world very few people know how to do it properly - infact few even know how to use GRP/FRP properly and refer to P40/fibrefill as fibreglass which it simply isnt

be wary of a normal bodyshop doing jobs involving fibre/glass reinforced plastics
