basically on this sort of budget what would be a good buy for my friend.
they have a 1.2 corsa m plate.
It is a tall order to match aswell
limit of £5000
they want something with good performnace - 0-60 in 9 secs or quicker - 120+ top end
comfortable to drive with some nice extras, electric mirros windows, air con.
cheap insurance as possible.
good fuel economy.
this is a tall order but i think a corsa 1.8 sri would be ideal, or maybe a renault clio 1.6 sport.
any advice would be great

VW Lupo Tdi & chip it to 115 bhp
Fast enough when 75 bhp, little rockets when remapped
Quite cool looking
Still get 60mpg when remapped

Does he live in Germany? If not, why does it need to do 120mph?

cheap insurance and below 9's 0-60 lol
good luck with that, my v6 vectra was a extra £200 to insure than my 1.4 corsa sport,
the vectra is a group 14, does 0-60 in 8secons and goes on to top speed of 143.
you can pick up facelift(1999 onwards) vecs quite cheap and there good cars, the sri's dont handle to badly and got to love the roar of the v6

If I had 5 Grand and limited on Insurance I would look for:
Saxo VTR Grp 6
Glanza (lowish group cannae rember)
Astra G SRi 1.8
Astra Coupe 1.8 SE2 (hard to find one at this price but occasional ones pop up)
Clio DCi
Ibiza S 130 pd (quick and only grp 9 insurance)

its not that he is actually limited on insurance, but he is choosing to limit his money. as he will probably go mad and buy something really powerfull with expansive insurance and poor fuel economy.
he is trying to save for a house aswell.
