right me and my dad are looking at gettin some gym equipment for our garage as neither of us wanna join a gym cos we only wnat certain bits of equipment. my dad has already ordered a treadmill, bike and rowing machine.
now i am looking into weights and have 2 options:
option 1 is a multi gym, it come with 80kg weight restiance, it has the usally parts such as bench press, pec dec, leg extension, back leg curl, lat pull down and a pulley suystem for arm curls
and
option 2 is a bench with a barbell and 50kg of weight. the bench come with pectoral fly and leg extensions
now i know the multi gym come with more avalible workouts for more muslce groups but i was told by some one that the free wights on a bench are better than a multi gym. just wondering wot the better option would be?
cheers nath

Free weights are much more effective. But you will soon want more than 50kg of weight.
I'd buy the bench and some extra weight and also some dumbells, will give you more options.

see that wot i am thinking as it also works out a little cheaper for the free weights so could afford to get some extra weight (the barbell kit i am looking at comes with dumbell bars things lol)

yeah as said, i'd just get a bench (an adjustable one so can change the incline, barbells and dumbbells, plenty of exercises there. Then maybe make or buy some form of pull-up bar.

If your garage has strong wooden cross beams you can do pullups on them Grab a chair to reach and get going!

Go for free weights and a simple bench. Dont go for one of those ones with flys and leg bollocks. Get some dumbells and you can do flys, as well as plenty other exercises and use the barbell for squats for your legs.

Free weights enable you to actually 'all' of the weight, these fancy machines you see in gym's or multigyms take a bit of the strain away, as Marc said, bench and free weights. Also helps your weaker side develop quicker.
