wait til you go out in an e39 m5 then . m3 evos are very quick though but no way near as good through the twisties as the e46 m3, and tell him to put abit of money aside incase the dual vanos packs up

Duel Vanos is fine so long as you maintain the car......regular oil changes prevent oil deprivation thus prolonging the life of your vanos/engine/car. Its to be expected with anything sporty - Look after it & it will look after you

To be fair mine was really reliable, the only thing I ever had go wrong was a clutch but it did have about 100k on it at the time!

Less could be said for some of the 328i's tho.

It was 1996 and my dad had a spanking new touring.

3000miles later...

CSL wheels will suit it, but the E46 M3 wheels really don't suit the E36 in my opinion.

I'd love an E30 / E36 M3 at some point in my life amazing cars but a beemer fan so I would say that.

I cant remember exactly as i was only wee at the time. But basically there was a problem that they were going to start recalling IIRC.

It was something to do with the bottom end im sure anda affected alot of them around that time.

But all was replaced then never had a fault.

Mum had a 328 with an accelerator that locked itself open

I hate BMW's with a passion, but the M's are amazing having driven the new M3 I fell in love with it, however not lovin the flappy tip tronic version but with a proper gear box they are animals.

Would love to compare the older shape M3 to the new one, from a driving perspective. As I might need to purchase one day

Read many a time that the Evo is the worse one to go for.

Not many actually even make 320bhp, morelike 310 and lower...

M3 3.0 is suposed to be the better one as it hasn't got the dreaded cam chain problem (don't quote me on the specifics as i don't know). 3.0 is the more reliable lump. Speak to Mr M3 or Tim_P on migweb, they have the actual facts...

M3 Evo is a lovely looking car. But owning a BMW, remind your friend where the indicators and mirrors are And yup, stereotypical, but when you get cut up by them all the time, you have reason to think that way
