I have a corsa SRi 1993 model, and was doin about 8000 to 9000 revs in first gear and then things started going wrong, i have dropped a valve. i have removed the head, and noticed that one of the followers has snapped, and the valve has fallen apart, can you put these back together easily?

How did you manage 9000rpm ? Did you stick it in first instead of 3rd ?

Rev limiters only work on the upshift, changing down it can't actually cut in can it? Eg 2nd redline change upto 3rd is fine, going from 3rd-1st the engine still revs that high as the limiter doesn't work?
This is what I have read on MANY different car sites

it physically wont go into first gear at anything more than walking pace though. and it wouldnt keep on revving just due to a down shift. it would engine brake like fcuk

oops soz meant 7000 revs, i pulled off in first gear, and was nearly at the end of the road and forgot to change to second, made sum rattling noise then started acting like i had ran out o petrol and cutting out, then it cut out and wouldnt start again, i removed the rocker cover, and one of the valves has fell apart and the followover thingy has snapped, can i just rebuild the valve and put a new followover thingy in and it should run ok? i remoed the oil sump and cant see anything wrong in the bottom end

for the record you CAN get it back into first at high speeds. my mate bent his valves when he was canned it all the way through 2nd gear, went to put it into 3rd and rammed it back into 1st, released the clutch and....

Chances are if you have damaged the valve then some of it must have fallen into the chamber so you may have some piston/cylinder damage?
Sorry dude!
