me girlfriend has just had a ek 1998 3door 1.5lsi civic it says vtec on the back but rev counter only goes up to 8000 rpm anyone know if it really is a v tec cos it even says it on log book? if so what bhp is it cos it is not as fast as she thought it would of been??? know it isnt a corsa question but all help apreciated thanks

Well if it says VTEC then it must be, my knowledge of the old EK's is limited, but I know the 1.5 doesn't rev as high as some others.

yea 112bhp they got the vtec-e engine in,not a proper d16 or b16 in

I think the 1.5 VTEC only have a single cam.

Thats the single cam you have there mate and i think they are around 120bhp the twin cam is 180bhp

1.5 vtec=112bhp,1.6 soch vtec= 130bhp,1.6 vtec dohc=160bhp,1.8 vtec dohc = 170bhp
