What the fuck are you chatting about? A ) a car being cool is all relative to the owner, Most people would think both our cars are lame.

Gti's won't class for rallys ? - LuckyB (Dave P) on this site has a 16v 106 that has won his class in scotland or something.

There's no real advantage of a 106 rallye other than insurance, everything else about the rallye, can be obtained from a 106 gti by stripping all the unecisary bits off.

The thing I like about your rallye though butler, is it's a 1.3 and produces 100 bhp - will do the 1/4 mile in roughly about the same time most of the corsa sport boys will do 1/4 mile in 1.6 16vs Now that's an achievement

I wasnt clear enough it what I was saying. No GTI will class for Endurance rallying, something im hoping to do and which my 1.3 dominates in.

Also I know coolness is relative to its owner, hence the 'IMO'

never understand why people go for the 106 gti, when for the money you could get the same spec vts for half the money 4000 gets you a 02 plate now days all with tiny mileage as well. yes 106 does look better i love the yellow carworks one with the carbon bonnet etc, but when your paying the same for a s reg as u do an 03????

I agree with you, but then again i drive a 306! A corsa would never touch a 106 or 306 for handling whatever set-up or engine it was running. IMO.

Your totaly right

as an ex 106 gti owner and corsa gsi owner, totally agree

I recently got my GTI on a 2000 plate for just over 4k with low mileage, 106 GTI= more desirable and not as common as vts imo of course

but i do like the 106 gti's and agree with the who handle and faster as standard, but the corsa has a better build quality whihc make it nice to drive

Thinner doors WTF are you talking about!?!?

The S2 106 Rallye & 106 Gti shells are the same!

A "stripped" S2 106 Rallye will still be lighter than a "stripped" 106 Gti as the Gti has ABS, PAS, sunroof, leccy windows etc which all add weight.

Std weights are...

S1 106 Rallye - 810/825kg
S2 " " - 865kg (non pas/airbag)
S2 " " - 902kg (pas/airbag)
106 Gti - 952kg

the 106 will always have the 'biscuit tin' feel to it tho. feels to light and flimsy for my liking. I know a corsa isnt the best car available but in a crash they are a lot better than most small cars.

106 is probably one of the last cars I would want to be in in a crash.

I've always loved the styling of of 106 GTi, they look great from the outside, especially that white one!
But it's the build quality and interior that eventually put me off buying one. The few I looked at and test drove were pretty quick tho!

In saying that... which small car has a known problem with a weak shell and develops cracks at the base of it's "B" pillars...?

Oh... it's the Corsa B.
