I am thinking of selling my Corsa C 1.8 and getting a 2005 SEAT Ibiza Cupra 1.8T.
What do people think of these ? Am I right in saying that it can be chipped up from its standard 180BHP to approximately 225BHP ? Does anyone know how much this upgrade is likely to cost ?
I'm thinking of spending £11.5K on a late 2005 model with only a couple of thousand miles on the clock, and they are £14.5K new, so a good saving.
Is this a good choice of car for the money ? Any opinions welcome.
They've only offered me £3,650 for my 2001 Corsa C 1.8 though, with 46K miles

I'm 25, but thats just my opinion mate, nothing against people that drive them, just not for me.
Corsa 1.8 is now feeling a bit slow and want something newer & better, but most quick Super Mini's are French, and I've sworn never to by another French car after the amount of problems I had with my Saxo VTS.

Nice cars, good interior, very comfy and some good toys to play with (if you get climate control and all that).
Either the 1.8T or the 1.9TDi @ 160bhp. Both good engines and as you said, reliable remaps are pretty cheap.
Good time to get one as the new facelift ibizas are slashing prices of the older ones.
Only problem you may find are little niggles like the dash plastic seems to be waaaay to soft, and marks really easily - same goes for the rest of the interior trim and headlights often fog up - and are a bitch to fix.

They are very nippy cars, if you do a lot of miles defo consider the diesel though as they aren't shy!

remap will cost you circa £500 and how much power you get depends on what turbo you have. most ibiza cupras come with the k03 meaning circa 210bhp following remap, the biza cupra r's have k03s same as the leon cupras meaning circa 220bhp following remap.
either way the are still quick and torquey cars after.
also reliable engines, yes you can get coil probs etc but no biggies

Thanks for all your comments. Never driven one but looking forward to it, I'm off to the garage in an hour or so.
The Seat Ibiza Cupra's seem to hold their prices pretty well too, would you agree ?

I did consider the 1.9 TD Cupra, but only do about 7000 miles a year, so wouldn't really save much in petrol to make it worth the extra expense buying it.
