£500, Mantzel would be a good option.

Or save a bit more and then get some TB's.

Definately get a mantzel style inlet. Best first mod.

Mantzel's are £520 delivered from Germany.

Makes hell of a difference. Definatley the first thing to change, as the standard inlet os restrictive.

or make one yourself for around 80 i guess.... my m8 made it for around 40, but he did all the cutting and polishing on his own, only the welding had to be done somewhere else.

raw version, tape welded

straight from welding

and a final, polished product

needs a bit more work inside, but apart from this it is in fact a mantzel inlet

one (much uglier and less precise than the one showed above) has already been tested and works fine - 104bhp from a 1.4 without moving the limiter and with no other mods

Won't the ECU get confused though if you're running the standard map with a new inlet?

JRE manage about 170BHP on the rally spec 1.4 16v and peak power is 8700rpm, going to 9.5k limit, but that's 7500notes and 1000stage miles between rebuilds.
