My uncle got killed yesterday while out on his bike by some prick who did a u-turn in the road without checking his mirrors causing my uncle to hit him and die instantly from what has been said, the family have asked me if i want to carry the coffin along with other members of the family but im for and against it, anyone done this or said no and regretted it afterwards for not doing it? Sorry not the best of posts on here

Sorry about your news mate.
Me, my bro and my cousins carried my grandmas coffin when she died. Didnt regret it one bit. Made me feel proud and is something il remember forever.
Id say go for it, theres no bad points about it.

It's much harder than it looks to carry the weight, especially if the bearers are different heights, but its a good way to pay your own respects to the man.
Sorry to hear about your uncle, mine died under similar circumstances

I would carry the coffin personally, sort of like a last gesture of good will

Hiya mate, i'm very sorry to hear about that buddy This is a subject i know something about as, i lost my nan and my grandad in the past two years. I carried my grandfather and felt good for doing so. My nan was terminally ill and i'd seen her in some very difficult situations. When she passed away i was choked and asked not to carry her coffin although my other two brothers did. I have never regretted not doing it because i know she was the type of person to not make me feel uncomfortable or make me do something against my own will. If you dont feel comfortable doing it, my advice is dont do it. If you feel okay about it, then do it and be proud mate... again sorry for you mate

Thats what I'd do too, never got the chance to do that at any funerals I've been to as I was too young.

Cheers for the comments guys.
The driver was arrested yesterday, and released on bail, there was a bus in the traffic que where it happened and was all caught on film, like bikes do - they pass on the outside of traffic and the van did the turn just as he was passing, well under the limit too, worst thing about it though apart from it happening was that the guy in the van who did the turn forgot his radio for work so was 50 mins later than he would have been originally so who knows if he had not forgotten it.

Sorry about your loss mate.
We've all booked a trip in a hearse, its shitty I know, but its going to happen sooner or later. Hope your uncle lived life to the full, if he didn't that's the only thing you should be mourning
As for coffin bearing?
Of course you should
